The 80s, a time when skaters became established as a culture. Mid-calf skater socks, which gained popularity as a change from the 19-inch high socks that were mainstream in the 70s, were redesigned to a shorter length. The quality that was added to the West Coast atmosphere of the 80s creates a subtle sense of dissonance.
